Successfully pitched one-on-one briefings for Mr. Zhang with seven of the top trade, business and mainstream media: Bloomberg News, Drilling Contractor, E&P, Energy Intelligence, Houston Chronicle, Upstream and Wall Street Journal.
To date, Bloomberg News, Drilling Contractor, Houston Business Journal, Houston Chronicle’s “FuelFix” (the newspaper’s energy section), OilPrice.com, RT, San Antonio Express-News and Upstream have posted articles focusing on Honghua. All articles have been straight forward in tone and focus on Honghua’s technological advancements and emphasis on the U.S. market. David Wethe at Bloomberg News participated in a briefing with Mr. Zhang on Wednesday, May 8 and followed up with additional questions about Honghua’s operations in Russia. Wethe contributed to an article focusing on oil rigs in Russia, Honghua’s second largest sale region. The story also touches on Honghua’s joint venture in Russia which was created to help meet demand and the need for innovative equipment in the country. OilPrice.com and RT repurposed information from Wethe’s article to craft original stories.
The Houston Business Journal’s Deon Daugherty submitted a text Q&A prior to OTC; she penned a story focusing primarily on the Q&A and notes that “Honghua is the largest drilling rig export enterprise in China and a top global manufacturer of land rigs.” Before the Q&A section of the article, Daugherty also mentions that Honghua has sold more than 650 drilling rigs to global customers.
Katherine Scott from Drilling Contractor met with Mr. Zhang on Wednesday, May 8, and published a story about Honghua’s newest equipment including the U.S. #1, 6,000-hp hydraulic fracturing pump and Honghai mobile crane. Scott points out that “although onshore rigs and technology remain at the core of Honghua’s business, the company is also pushing ahead with its entry into the offshore rig construction segment.”
Upstream’s Luke Johnson met with Mr. Zhang on Wednesday, May 8, and authored a story focusing on Honghua’s emerging offshore services. The article also touches on Honghua’s new mobile crane, Honghai, as well as the onshore fabrication yard in Qidong, Jiangsu province. Johnson notes that the company is currently building two platform supply vessels at the yard for a pair of Singaporean companies but is involved in "intensive discussions" with "a couple of big potential customers," including Swiss-based Noble Corporation.
Jeannie Kever (Houston Chronicle’s “FuelFix”) met with Mr. Zhang on Thursday, May 9, and posted articles on the “FuelFix” and San Antonio Express-News websites. In both articles, Kever noted that Mr. Zhang attended OTC to emphasize Honghua’s focus on the U.S. market and to relay that the company’s products are built on innovation. The stories also touch on the new drilling rig – that will launch later this year – designed specifically for the U.S.
Tom Fowler from The Wall Street Journal participated in briefing with Mr. Zhang on Wednesday, May. The interview served as an introduction to the company for Fowler; he is keeping the information he learned on file should it be needed for a bigger story in the future.
E&P’s Scott Weeden met with Mr. Zhang on Thursday, May 9. Weeden invited Honghua to contribute to the magazine, specifically articles about land rig advances and drilling.
